Pair of Glazed Ceramic Elephant Garden Seats

Two large ceramic elephants with decorated trappings and square upper platforms.

Chinese, twentieth century, according to the owner’s listing. Turquoise and green glazes are accented with cream, blue and reddish brown. The examples differ in construction: one is made as a single unit, the other is mounted separately on its base. Offered as a near pair. Crazing, wear and signs of use are present. Load-bearing capacity has not been established.
